Fast & Secure Ground Anchoring for Artificial Grass Edging
The Artificial Grass Composite Ground Spike (Pre-Cut) is designed to securely anchor your composite perimeter edging into the ground.
Manufactured from the same durable recycled composite material as our 3m Composite Ground Spike Batten, this pre-cut spike provides strong structural stability while allowing for quicker and simpler installations making it ideal for artificial grass fitters who want speed without compromising strength.
Manufactured Sustainably
Produced from recycled composite plastic, this spike offers a durable and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional timber stakes.
It is specifically designed to withstand prolonged ground contact without rotting, splitting, swelling or degrading.
Dimensions
- Length: 450mm
- Height: 40mm
- Width: 40mm
Key Features
- 25-Year durability rating
- Rot-proof construction
- Designed for ground contact
- Structural-grade strength
Required Ratio for Installation:
When installing Composite Ground Spike Batten (Pre-Cut 450mm) alongside:
Composite Perimeter Edging (3000mm long)
The recommended ratio is:
1 length of Composite Ground Spike Batten to 4 lengths of Composite Perimeter Edging (Pre-Cut – 4:1 ratio).
This provides sufficient structural anchoring while maintaining cost efficiency and installation speed.
Example:
- 3 lengths of Composite Perimeter Edging
- Requires 12 lengths of Composite Ground Spike Batten (Pre-Cut)
These ratios ensures a strong, stable perimeter frame.
What Is It Used For?
This pre-cut composite spike is used to:
- Anchor composite perimeter edging into the ground
- Secure artificial grass frames in place
- Prevent perimeter movement
- Reinforce sub-base containment
Ideal for:
- Domestic gardens
- Commercial landscaping
- High-traffic installations
- Curved or shaped lawn edges
How to Install (Correct Method)
- Position the spike along the inner edge of your perimeter frame.
- Drive into the ground using a heavy-duty lump hammer or sledgehammer until secure.
- Fix your composite edging board to the spike to create a stable perimeter structure.
- Secure artificial grass to the completed frame using artificial grass screws.
For best results, install spikes at regular intervals along the edging.
Why Choose Composite Over Timber Stakes?
- Completely rot-proof
- Moisture resistant
- No splitting or cracking
- Long-term ground stability
- Lower maintenance
- Stronger, more consistent performance
Timber stakes can degrade, loosen and shift over time. Composite spikes provide a far more permanent anchoring solution.
Trade & Installer Benefits
- Faster installation than cutting 3m battens
- Ideal for smaller jobs or tight spaces
- Professional structural support
- Compatible with full composite edging system
- Reduces long-term perimeter movement
